Development on land to the rear of High Stell – Footpath Diversion Order – Informal Consultation

The Parish Council has been informed by Darlington Borough Council that an application has been received on behalf of Homes by Carlton and Mr and Mrs Foster to divert part of two Public Rights of Way (LD Footpath No. 1 and No. 4) at Middleton St George.  The application, under Section 257 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, is to enable the development of the proposed residential development at High Stell, which was granted planning permission in March 2018.

See Map 1 which can be found here Map 1 Footpaths Diversion Proposals, Land to the rear of High Stell. The proposal will see:

Footpath No. 4 diverted from its current straight line route between points A and B to a ‘dog leg’ route between the two points.

Footpath No. 1 diverted from its current route between points A and C along the southern and western boundary.

Map 2 which can be found here Map 2 Footpaths Diversion Proposals, Land to the rear of High Stell shows the diversions in the context of the approved planning permission layout.

The Borough Council are  carrying out informal consultations on the proposals.  All comments on the proposed diversions should be sent to Steve Petch, Rights of Way Officer, Darlington Borough Council, Town Hall, Feethams, Darlington, DL1 5QT.  Email: steve.petch@darlington.gov.uk by Tuesday 6 November 2018.
