Middleton St. George Parish Council has applied to Darlington Borough Council to designate a Neighbourhood Area in order to prepare a Neighbourhood Development Plan.

A Neighbourhood Development Plan is a way for Parish Council’s to help shape how the community develops over the coming years.

A Neighbourhood Area had been designated for Middleton St George in 2014, however changes were made to the parish boundary via a Community Governance Review in 2016. Subsequently the Parish Council are now pursuing a new Neighbourhood Area which reflect these changes (see map overleaf).

Darlington Borough Council is to undertake a consultation on the proposed Neighbourhood Area from 13th February 2019 to 29th March 2019 and you are invited to comment. You can view details of the area proposed and find out more about neighbourhood planning by visiting

You can submit comments on the Council’s consultation portal by email to: or by post to: Planning Policy, Darlington Borough Council, 4th Floor, Room 401, Town Hall, Feethams, Darlington, DL1 5QT.

Following the consultation, comments received will be considered and Darlington Borough Council will make a decision on whether to designate the Neighbourhood Area. The decision will be publicised. Please be aware that all comments received will be publicly available and will appear on the Council’s website in due course.
