Parish Council Meeting Monday 10th January 2022

A meeting of the Parish Council will be held on this coming Monday, the 10th January, 2022 at 6.30 p.m. in the Parish Council Meeting Room.

The meeting will be open to the public but, the number of members of the public who wish to attend this meeting will have to be restricted because of the size of the Meeting Room.  Will members of the public please let the Clerk to the Parish Council know that they will be attending by emailing him on msgclerk@aol.com.  Remote access using Zoom will be available for those residents to view the meeting.  The codes for access to the meeting will be published when they have been determined.

There will be a Public Participation Session of 15 minutes duration at the beginning of the meeting.   Each person to speak for a maximum of 3 minutes. It would be helpful if members of the public write to the Clerk (email: msgclerk@aol.com) in advance of the meeting to advise if they wish to speak at the meeting,

APPLICATIONS SOUGHT FOR TWO PARISH COUNCILLORS

(Casual vacancy to be filled in pursuance of the Representation of the Peoples Act 1983 s36. (LGA 1972 s89.)

Dear Residents,

The Parish Council currently has vacancies for TWO PARISH COUNCILLORS (a longstanding vacancy, as well as a new vacancy)

Should you wish to offer your services as a Parish Councillor, please submit your application either in writing or by e-mail to the Parish Clerk, Alan Macnab, 5, Whitebridge Drive, Darlington DL1 3TY. Email msgclerk@aol.com  by FRIDAY 4TH FEBRUARY 2022.

Please could you provide the following:

  1. a) A supporting statement outlining your motivation, skills and experience you can offer the Parish Council, and what time you have available to that role
  2. b) A signed statement declaring that you fulfil the legal requirements (qualifications under the Local Government Act 1972)
  3. c) Your contact details

Some of the skills and qualities that would be useful to the role include problem-solving and analytical skills, assessing objectively, having ideas, commitment, “keeping going” skills, and teamwork skills.  Also useful would be the ability to understand budgets and financial paperwork.

The Parish Council currently has one full Parish Council meeting per month, as well as Committee meetings.

One of the Key Objectives of the Parish Council is to promote and represent the best interests of the village for the betterment of the local community. The main responsibilities of the role of Parish Councillor is to participate in the collective decision making processes of the Parish Council, to effectively represent the interests of the Parish, and actively and constructively contribute to the good governance of the Council in order to better serve the Parish.

In addition to preparing for, and attending meetings, Parish Councillors also have the opportunity to work on specific issues that are of concern to the community.

The Parish Council will consider applications at the Parish Council meeting scheduled for 14th February 2022, where a decision will be made.

Christmas Tree Collection Service. Middleton St. George

The Annual Christmas Tree Collection Service will again be carried out in the village by the Darlington Rotary Club.  The Parish Council has made a donation of £200 to St. Teresa’s Hospice for this service.

Will residents who wish to dispose of their Christmas Trees please bring them to the Water Park and deposit them by the Litter Bin at the entrance  by 9.00  a.m. on Saturday 8th January 2022.
