Dog owners. Please keep your dog on a lead in the Water Park

The Parish Council have received reports of dogs who are not on a lead in the Water Park and one incident of a dog not on a lead attacking another dog which was on a lead.

The Water Park is covered by a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) under which dog owners must:

  • keep their dog on a lead on specified land including East, North and West cemeteries
  • put their dog on a lead if you are told by a police officer, civic enforcement officer, park ranger or someone from the council
  • clear up after their dog.

Ignoring  a PSPO can result in a  £100 fixed penalty notice or up to a fine of £1,000 if it goes to court.

The Parish Council has asked Darlington Borough Council to increase its Dog Warden Service patrols in the Water Park.

Whilst the Parish Council welcomes dog owners exercising their dogs in the Water Park we are appealing to dog owners to PLEASE KEEP YOUR DOG ON A LEAD WHILST IN THE WATER PARK AND CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG IF THEY MAKE A MESS IN THE PARK.
